Prima Protein was etablished in 2017. Construction of the factory, located on Eigerøy, started in February 2018 and was completed in February 2019. We received our first delivery of pelagic fish and started production on the 19th of february the same year.

Prima Protein is part of Prima Blue – a leading supplier of first-class quality seafood and fish products. 

Our focus and our goals

Prima Protein aims to be a market leader in production and sale of high quality marine proteins (fishmeal) and marine oils in both Norway and abroad. We will contribute to strengthening Norway’s position as the preferred supplier of pelagic production. Prima Protein’s innovative goal is to expand our protein product range outside the existing market for fish and animal food. 

Our goal is to reach further down the food chain. Pelagic protein is a low-cost protein source, with high processing potential in the right application.
